چکیده

It is shown that if V is a local monoidal pseudovariety of semigroups, then K©m V, D©m V and LI©m V are local. Other operators of the form Z©m( ) are considered. In the process, results about the interplay between operators Z©m( ) and ( ) ∗ Dk are obtained.

Tameness of The Pseudovariety Ls1

A class of finite semigroups V is said to be decidable if the membership problem for V has a solution, that is, if we can construct an algorithm to test whether a given semigroup lies in V. Decidability of pseudovarieties is not preserved by some of the most common pseudovariety operators, such as semidirect product, Mal’cev product and join [1, 17]. In particular Rhodes [17] has exhibited a de...

Locality of Ds and Associated Varieties

We prove that the pseudovariety DS, of all nite monoids each of whose regular D-classes is a subsemigroup, is local. (A pseudovariety (or variety) V is local if any category whose local monoids belong to V divides a member of V). The proof uses the \kernel theorem" of the rst two authors together with the description by P. Weil of DS as an iterated \block product". The one-sided analogues of th...

On certain semigroups of transformations that preserve double direction equivalence

Let TX be the full transformation semigroups on the set X. For an equivalence E on X, let TE(X) = {α ∈ TX : ∀(x, y) ∈ E ⇔ (xα, yα) ∈ E}It is known that TE(X) is a subsemigroup of TX. In this paper, we discussthe Green's *-relations, certain *-ideal and certain Rees quotient semigroup for TE(X).

Free Profinite Semigroups Over Some Classes of Semigroups Locally in D(G)

The theory of free profinite semigroups, which received its major impetus with the publication of Reiterman’s paper [17] in the early eighties, has proven to be an important tool in the study of pseudovarieties of semigroups and on the varieties of recognizable languages associated with them (via Eilenberg’s Theorem on varieties [13]). The importance of Reiterman’s theorem was immediately under...
